Fingersmith
I just finished this book today.
Ho-ly fuck, it's so good. Dark as hell, though. If that's not what you want to read, I'd recommend skipping this one. But if you like dark material, this book is amazing.
There is so much happening in the climax, I lost track of time because I was so invested with what was going to happen to these characters.
Full warning, though: You are going to want to kill more than a few of the characters in the book, especially the main villain. That man somehow makes Kaz Brekker (a ruthless gang leader, mind you) look like a decent person. I pretty much hated him a little more with every single scene he was in. Don't worry, he gets punished, but he is a reprehensible person with basically no redeeming qualities.
The main focus of the book is the relationship between Maud and Susan, whom I shipped pretty much from the start, because they are really cute together. The characters themselves are very interesting and layered. The author managed to put in so many twists that change how I saw the characters, it was really interesting, albeit painful in some areas.
Highly recommend.
