Scarlet Cross

With Scarlet Cross, I like that BVB combined their older sounds from STWOF and W&D. STWOF is characterized by this gritty anger, which is so iconic with BVB.

In the song, the main characters have been made outcasts by society, and are forced to live seperate from the society they're from. And that has led to some...understandable anger from all of the characters.

But the song brings in the soaring dramatics from W&D. Whereas STWOF kept it's atmosphere gritty, Scarlet Cross takes a few notes from the Wild Ones. The scale of this song, especially the chorus, is very grand.

I think part of that can be attributed to the fact that this album has a story attached. Like W&D, this album has a world to set up. And when doing that through song, you need to set up the world in around 3-4 minutes. What's the best way to do it? Create a grand scale so the consumer can get an instant snapshot of the crapsack world your characters are suffering through.

Add these styles and a fast paced energy, and this song took my heart from my first listen.
