In The End
I think this one became one of the "signature" BVB songs because it was a perfect snapshot of Wretched And Divine. And since W&D is their best selling album, it became the song people accosted BVB with.
And for good reason. It is a powerful song asking a very existential question: who's going to keep your memory alive?
It's near the end of the album (or the very end, if you just listen to the original), and we don't quite know what's going to happen to the Wild Ones. And they wonder: is anyone going to tell our story if we die after this?
And that question resonated with listeners because, well, it's on pretty much everyone's mind. There is a very good reason the closing song of Hamilton discusses this very thing: it is a very universal fear (no pun intended).
We want legacies, we want people to remember us, and In The End puts this question and desire into song form.
Aside from that, it's just a kickass rock song. But this is BVB, is anyone shocked?
