Speaking of Respect!
So one of my first posts was talking about how I felt that RPF wasn't respectful towards the people being shipped.
And now, I want to talk about: sexualisibg band members. And because this is a BVB specific blog, I'll be discussing Andy.
Yes, he's gorgeous. I'm 90% certain that everyone with a functioning pair of eyes agrees. Yes, he's shirtless on stage sometimes. Still, no reason to sexualize him to the point that it's disgusting to even recall some of the things that I've seen.
On stage, do you want to know how many lights all of the band members are under? Andy is moving around on that stage and singing while dozens of bright lights are being directed at him and the band. As someone who has been in musical theater since she was born, that is exhausting, and the more clothing you have on, the more tiring it gets. So his clothing choices even make sense on a practical level.
And even if it wasn't, it is extremely disrespectful to Andy to reduce him to his looks. Everyone rightfully complains about this when women are objectified and reduced to nothing more than a pretty face. Men deserve the same level of respect, as well.
To me, this reads disturbingly like people who will say a woman "asked for it" because of the clothing she was wearing at any given moment. Andy can wear whatever the hell he wants on stage, or off. And he shouldn't have to deal with people taking images of him and objectifying him to embarrassing degrees.
