RPF, And My Thoughts On It
Okay, for those that don't know, RPF stands for Real Person Fiction. It's where two real live people are shipped together.
Honestly, I...don't really like this. Because, to me, it feels like this is kind of an invasion of privacy for the people involved.
Writing narrative situations for two people, even if they are together, is speculating about their personal life, which isn't a good move. Their personal life should remain personal, with as little speculation as possible.
And it can go horribly wrong, because we don't know who these people are in real life. Remember Andley? Yeah.....that ship was abuser and victim.
But we didn't know that, because we didn't know who Ashley really was. And they were shipped together. So Andy had to deal with being shipped with his abuser, and people wanting for him and Ashley to be together.
I am okay with (and do like) video edits for existing couples, made with pictures/videos that have been shown publicly by the people in the relationship. Because there isn't any speculation about the personal life about the couple. There aren't and speculations or fantasies about their love life, it's just a slideshow of pictures.
I do believe that if you think a relationship is adorable, you can acknowledge that. I just don't like it when fanfiction is written about any couple, because this is their personal life, and it should stay like that.
